Another spring weekend in Perth means another gorgeous wedding. I never know quite how things are going to turn out and like to think I live in the present, go with the flow, and latch onto the good moments and see what eventuates. I arrived at the beautiful beach house that Michele and her girls had booked via Air BnB in Scarborough, to them all being organised and ready to get dressed. As much as I love the make up shots, it was a pleasant and calm experience to be able to jump straight into getting the gown on and some lovely portraits at the front of the cottage.

Meanwhile, Warren was waiting at St Michael the Archangel church in Leederville, certainly one of my fave traditional ceremony venues in Perth. I adore the architecture and gardens here, it’s always a pleasure to shoot, especially with the amazing downward view on the service from the church balcony.

Father Joe delivered his usual hilarious and heartfelt ceremony before the happy couple exited the doors and proceeded to get enveloped in hugs! A highlight of the day for a documentary photographer. You get such natural shots at this time, I certainly recommend allowing time for this.

When we got to Kings Park, the sun was already sinking into the smoky prescribed burns haze over Perth, but it created a fabulous red glow around the sun as it set so I certainly wasn’t complaining! We wandered around the Kings Park gardens near Frasers and had some fun before heading into the reception. Frasers always delivers. The meal service was so fantastically run and organised. I just couldn’t fault them and it’s one of the reasons I love working at the venue. Big thanks to Frasers at Kings Park to providing us with full meals as well, it’s not often a venue is so accommodating to give us an entree and main meal so politely.

I do think sometimes wedding venues forget that often we (the hired help haha) are customers too. There are certainly a few venues that I do not work at anymore and that I wouldn’t recommend, due to their poor treatment of vendors. It’s a small industry here in Perth and word certainly gets around!

The reception continued with some very funny and emotional speeches and my coverage ended after the first dance and a number of bangers on the dance floor! I had such a good night with Michele and Warren and their family and friends, massive congrats you two!! xx

Shoutout to the best vendors:

Dylan from Majestic Wedding DJs - I don’t often recommend DJs but this is the second time I’ve worked with Dylan and he’s fabulous. Intelligent, funny, accommodating and just plays good music! He’s also very respectful of photographers and videographers yay!
