LAUREN AND KELLY | BUSSELTON WEDDING | OLD BROADWATER FARM PHOTOGRAPHER
Another spring weekend that threatened rain! The kids and I drove down to Busselton on Thursday morning for a long weekend, with Lauren and Kelly's wedding scheduled for the Friday. Well we didn't get to do much on Thursday as it pelted down! The heavens just kept on opening and throwing down rain. I chose not to worry about it too much as I've learned over the years, what will be will be!
Luckily Friday morning dawned with beautiful weather for a wedding and after a 10km run with Charlie alongside me on the bike, I set about preparing for their big day at the always gorgeous Old Broadwater Farm in Busselton. Weddings at Broadwater Farm are fantastic as there are so many options and you don't even have to leave the site. Lauren and her bridesmaids got ready in the cottage and Kelly and the boys were at the Wetlands Retreat, just a short walk away from the ceremony location on the lawn. Make up by Belle Couture and Hair by 'I Do Hair'. Lauren's stunning dress was from Brides By Design in Perth.
The ceremony was perfect but the dark clouds started to roll in during family portraits and we'd all just got under cover when a massive shower came down. Luckilyit only lasted ten minutes, allowing the bridal party time to freshen up in the cottage and have a champers. Brollies on standby, we took a walk around the gorgeous property for bridal party portraits. We even snuck into the Wetlands Retreat to check on furbaby Clancy, who was a little bit overexcited to see his mum and dad, so cute!!
This time of year, it was sensible to hold the reception in the full marquee, and the amazing work of The Dreamer and Collector was out on show. The florals from the ceremony and arbor were reused for the centrepiece decorations and the bridal table arrangement, such a great idea. The cake was made by Stacey Beard and the catering all taken care of by Supper Road and Cape Cellars.
A fabulous big group of family and friends and great speeches (including a stellar maid of honour speech by sister Ellie, who sang the house down paraphrasing lyrics to suit Lauren and Kelly's love story!) made a night to remember. One great thing that these guys did is constantly move around all the tables, chatting to everyone. Made my life easier as I got some great candid photos during this time. Definitely recommend brides and grooms get up and mingle with your guests! Especially if you haven't chatted much to people during the day. Great music all day also by James Wilson at Champion Music, he has such an amazing voice!
Thanks so much for having me guys! I had a ball. Massive congrats, such a pleasure to spend the day with you xx
PS. We had a great rest of the weekend down in Busselton too, with visits to the Margaret River Chocolate Factory, the Naturaliste Reptile Park, a walk on the jetty and visit to the Observatory (we saw a seal!). We also visited the lovely new Busso hospital after discovering Charlie was super allergic to shellfish after rubbing raw prawn bait in his eye whilst fishing with his brother. Mass dose of anti-histamine and anti-inflammatories later...
I got a ton of running in (with Charlie my constant companion on the bike) and managed a new 5km PB at Geographe Bay parkrun! I love heading down south, it's one of my fave places on the planet! We're so lucky to have such a gorgeous part of the world on our doorstep. Bring on more weddings down in our stunning South West :)
