Studio News December 2011 - Mentoring, Associate Photographer Jobs, Travel and a new Portrait Package special
Hi all - hope your Christmas shopping is underway and you are looking forward to some time off! Things are going a bit crazy at this end, but I wouldn't have it any other way. I'm heading down to Margaret River this weekend for a gorgeous wedding before two more weddings prior to the finale of 2011. I will be going camping with the boys in January so will be unavailable between 14th January and the 24th January. I'm having my yearly trip without any kind of technology and I can't wait.
I have a number of exciting developments happening in 2012 and I know it's going to be an amazing year. I have decided to expand White Tulip Photography to take on more weddings per year and hopefully train up at least one, maybe two associate shooters. If I am already booked for your date, or you need a slightly more affordable option, my associates will be able to step in. I will be training people up in my style and to shoot the way I shoot so you can be guaranteed of quality results. In order to start this training, I am offering a limited amount of one-on-one educational training and mentoring.
The first stream of this will be directed towards those people who are just starting out with their business and need some guidance. I learnt the hard way, taught myself pretty much everything and it has been a long process of trial and error. I feel I am now in a position to help people get a bit of a headstart. As well as my photography and business experience, I am also a qualified media and photography teacher. If you would like an information pack which includes costs and an outline of what we will cover, please email me at email@example.com.
We will cover business aspects from marketing to pricing to workflow; technical aspects including tips and tricks for shooting (weddings and portraits specifically), photoshop basics and album design; and finally shooting experience. You will receive headshots for your business from yours truly and you will get an opportunity to shoot both a family portrait and a styled wedding shoot. It is an intensive 5 day course (can be spread over a number of weeks) so I am limiting it to only a few people and it is one-on-one so you will have my full attention. I have made it as affordable as possible and I believe it is of immense value compared to the time and money you will save trying to figure things out on your own. Obviously you will need some photography experience considering you are wanting to start your own business ;) A DSLR and a couple of good lenses as far as gear goes is an absolute minimum. I can give you advice on what gear is essential for weddings and portraits.I very much look forward to these teaching experiences in 2012!
Leading on from these courses is the opportunity to go into training with White Tulip. The course will be a pre-requisite to becoming a short term intern. This will include the opportunity to accompany me to weddings and try your hand at shooting. Critique of your images will be included. You will be able to use images from both the course and training for your portfolio so you will have a great start to your own business and also to become an associate shooter for White Tulip if you desire.
The second stream of teaching I am offering is for people that just want to extend their understanding of photography and DSLR shooting. This is just a two day course and will feature tips and tricks for shooting including natural light and basic on camera flash techniques; basic Photoshop tools to enhance your photos; RAW processing/conversion; tools for connecting with your subject including posing basics and more! If you have a DSLR and a couple of good lenses and would like to improve your family snaps and travel photos, this course is definitely for you! All information presented is also available in a PDF at the end of the course so that you can always refer back to the information in the future.
Again for more information, please email me firstname.lastname@example.org.
I am also going back to offering family portraits in 2012. I specialise in older children, including teenagers. Babies must be able to sit up independently and I don't do maternity portraits. Family generational portraits are welcomed! All sessions are on location and I have one simple package. You can add on extras but the base package is as follows:
One hour session on location
Viewing appointment at the Fremantle office to choose your images
Silk Folio Box (8x10) featuring 15 matted prints at 5x7 - photo cover
25-30 edited images on disk - non watermarked and high resolution - for you to print as you wish
$1500 inc GST
This is amazing value so get in quick and book your session for 2012 :)
In travel news, I will be in the following locations if you would like to book a wedding or portrait session with me:
